FAQ… How Do I Clean my Vinyl Records?

Hearing crackle or more than usual? Finding a build up on your stylus/needle? We get asked a lot what the best way to clean and look after records is… here’s a few steps.

  • To maintain optimal sound quality and preserve the life of your vinyl records, proper cleaning is essential. A great start would be investing in a carbon-fibre or anti-static brush to gently remove surface dust before each play.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a specialised record cleaning solution and a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe in the direction of the groove.
  • Always handle records by the edges to prevent fingerprint smudges and oils.
  • Store them vertically in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Check your turntable stylus for dirt or build up and replace if necessary.
  • Making sure the tonearm is properly calibrated and balanced can help with that a lot.

These practices will safeguard your vinyl collection and ensure a consistent, high-quality audio experience. Look after ’em and you’ll get the best out of ’em!
